I always wanted a coffee table made out of an internal combustion engine...

So I made one.

The V8 Coffee Table was created in Fall 2014 for ME203: Design and Manufacturing. I prowled craigslist for a month before finding a 'running' Land Rover aluminum block 3.9L V8. I disassembled the motor (and discovered ring land failure in cylinder #7), cleaned it thoroughly, and sandblasted. I then designed and TIG welded a frame to hold the block and glass, installed an LED strip in the block, and mounted silicone bushings to hold the table glass. The base is powdercoated charcoal grey.
